Equipment and Materials
There is a good stock of clay and a nice variety of glazing materials. We also sell plaster. There are two bookable kilns, a spray booth for glazes, and we also have a wood-turning lathe and specific plaster casting area. For those interested in selling ceramic handcrafts we have everything you need to start up a small business!
However there is still work to be done to fully set up this work space into the amazing place it can be. We would invite your feedback if you have any particular needs or ideas that can help to inspire us in growing this space for what people particularly want or need. Maybe you would like to begin a class your self or have other ideas for using this area? Maybe you’d like to set up a project for working with cutting stone or working with firing clay outside? There are many possibilities.
We aim to have the space open 7 days per week, and to have events happening in the studio on most evenings. Weekend events and children’s parties are also possible; and for making this happen we need and continue to welcome volunteers. As a volunteer you will be expected to be able to show others what to do or, more simply, help out with some of the practicalities of running the space. Volunteers get free use of the space and possibly some kiln time, but will need to provide or buy their own materials. We also need publicity, and an outlet for people who would like to exhibit their work. A portfolio of examples is currently underway.
If you have a passion for clay, or simply want to develop your creative side, this may be the place for you. All are welcome.
Every Thursday there is an introductory and well planned, guided session.
“I’m looking forward to provide a fresh and exciting space for you”
